User Research
Understanding people before we build:
Digital products succeed when they’re grounded in real behaviour, needs and context — not assumptions. Our user research work helps you see the problem clearly, understand the people you’re designing for, and make better decisions before significant time or budget is spent.
What this involves:
We use a practical mix of methods depending on the project stage and questions that need answering:
Stakeholder interviews and discovery workshops to align on goals and constraints
User interviews, contextual inquiry and observational research
Surveys and light quantitative validation
Journey mapping, affinity mapping and persona development
Competitive and market scans where they add useful context
Synthesis that turns raw findings into clear, prioritised insights
How we apply it to a project:
We start by defining the key questions with you — what you need to learn and why it matters. From there we design a focused research plan, recruit the right participants, and gather evidence through conversation and observation.
Findings are synthesised into practical outputs: insight summaries, journey maps, opportunity areas and recommendations. These become the shared foundation for the rest of the work.
How it connects:
Strong research reduces risk and gives design a clear direction. The insights we uncover feed directly into UX design — shaping structure, prioritisation and experience decisions. When research and design are connected, development starts from a much clearer brief, with fewer costly changes later.
Research can be run as a standalone piece of work or as the first stage of a fuller product engagement.
