Frequently Asked Questions
What do you actually do?
I find ideas, validate them with real people, design the experience, build the product, test it, and launch it. Sometimes that’s my own products. Sometimes it’s helping someone else move from a fuzzy idea to something live.
Are you an agency?
No. Whim & Wireframe is a one-person studio. Research, design, build and launch all sit under one roof — which keeps things clearer and faster.
Do you only build your own products?
I build and ship my own products, and I’m open to focused collaborations where research, design or build support would help something move forward. I’m less suited to long, open-ended retainer work or large multi-team programmes.
What does a typical collaboration look like?
It depends on the stage. It might be:
validating whether an idea is worth building
shaping the UX and information architecture
designing and building a first version
testing with real users before a wider launch
or helping tidy up positioning and launch basics
We agree scope, timeline and outcomes up front.
Do you work with early-stage ideas?
Yes — especially when the need still needs testing. A lot of time and money gets wasted building things people don’t actually want. Early research and validation are often the highest-leverage step.
Do you only do research?
No. Research is a core part of how I work, but I also design, build, test and launch. The research simply keeps the rest of the process honest.
What tech do you use?
A practical modern stack, assisted by tools like Claude where they genuinely speed things up. The exact stack depends on the product. The priority is shipping something solid and maintainable, not collecting frameworks.
How do you handle accessibility?
It’s considered from the start, not bolted on at the end. Clear structure, usable interactions and inclusive design decisions are part of the normal process.
How long does a project usually take?
It varies. A focused research or design piece might take a couple of weeks. A small product build takes longer. I’ll always give a realistic range once I understand the scope.
How much does it cost?
There’s no single price list because the work varies. After a conversation about goals and constraints, I’ll propose a clear scope and fee so you know what’s included.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. Most work happens remotely. In-person sessions can be arranged when they’re useful.
What if I’m not sure what I need yet?
That’s fine. A short conversation is usually enough to work out whether the next step should be research, design, build, or simply more thinking.
How do I start?
Send a message with a bit of context about what you’re working on or stuck with. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll book a call and take it from there.
